Empowering Haitian Communities Through Collective Action

In 2014, sisters Sophonie and Marie founded HASC with a vision to transform lives and communities. Born in Haiti and having migrated to the United States as teenagers, Sophonie and Marie have always remained deeply connected to their roots. Their journey of community involvement began in their new home, where they actively participated in church activities and various mission trips.

Sophonie and Marie developed a profound understanding of the world and a strong desire to make a difference through their involvement in numerous volunteering opportunities. These experiences shaped their perspective and reinforced the importance of community over individualism.

Determined to create a lasting impact, the sisters established HASC as a platform to help Haitian students engage with their communities. They aimed to shift the mindset from an individualized view to one focused on collective action and community building.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower Haitian youth—both in the U.S. and globally—to actively shape and strengthen the communities they envision. Through fostering unity, collaboration, and shared purpose, we inspire individuals to contribute to the greater good and drive meaningful, lasting change. We believe in the power of collective action and community-led leadership. By amplifying the voices of Haitian youth and supporting community-based organizations, we provide the funding, tools, and resources needed to enable them to lead, rebuild, and sustain their communities from within.

Our Vision

We envision a future where Haitian youth are empowered, resourced, and united to lead meaningful change within their communities and beyond. Through strong partnerships, shared responsibility, and grassroots leadership, they become the driving force behind sustainable growth and opportunity. By fostering collaboration and elevating local voices, we strive to build resilient, self-sustaining communities rooted in culture, innovation, and collective progress. Together, we are shaping a future where every young leader has the tools, support, and platform to create lasting impact

Our work is guided by a holistic set of pillars focused on uplifting Haitian youth and strengthening their communities both locally and globally. We prioritize education, empowerment, and clear career pathways to equip Haitian youth with the tools to succeed. Alongside this, we advance economic empowerment, promote access to healthcare and safety, and lead coordinated crisis response efforts ensuring Haitian communities are supported, resilient, and positioned for long-term growth.

Our Mission, Vision & Pillars

Our Team

Sophie (Founder & President)

“I believe in HASC's mission. It recognizes that community is more than a network—it is our primary support system and our way forward as a nation. By empowering students to embrace this early on, we ensure they have the tools to lead. Together, we can move mountains and build bridges. Join us.”

Mary (Co-Founder & Vice President

“Haiti has always taught me that resilience is not just about surviving, it’s about building, giving, and carrying one another forward. That is why the work of the Haitian American Student Corporation matters so deeply to me. We are investing in Haitian-led solutions, empowering our communities, and reminding the next generation that our story is not defined by struggle alone, but by strength, brilliance, and collective hope.”

Nadine (Donor & Volunteer Relations)

"HASC inspires me to be part of something bigger than myself, to give back, and to help create an environment where others can thrive."

Dinach (Technology & Treasurer)

"As a Haitian immigrant and member of the diaspora, it was challenging to find an organization and community of like-minded individuals dedicated to supporting Haitians in need. HASC has provided me with a platform to help drive meaningful change and build a stronger future for Haitians both locally and in Haiti."

Saskia (Social Media & Marketing)

"I care about making an impact and within HASC, I’ve found a group of like-minded individuals who strive for real effective change. I believe in HASC because to me, the HASC mission encompasses the main areas relevant to humanity’s mission. Economic empowerment, youth development, crisis management, overall social grace."

Ralph (Project & Program Manager)

"True change is not achieved through words alone, but through a daily commitment to uplifting others. This is what HASC stands for: leadership, opportunity, and lasting impact."

Maritza (Secretary & Admin)

“HASC builds community and identity by creating a space where Haitian and Haitian American and allies can connect for a same purpose: contribute to real impact by supporting immigrants in the U.S with language access and by providing development and healthcare services in Haiti to address roots of migration, poverty and instability. Let’s get this done!!!”
